Submission Guidelines

Pittsburgh Better Times welcomes submissions of bylined articles, opinion pieces, product reviews, and event listings.

Below you will find a basic guideline on how to submit your bylined article. By writing an article, you’re sharing your expertise with our audience, and information sharing is what this digital magazine is all about. If you have any questions or would like a sponsored article or post, please email our managing editor.

Our aim is to meet the diverse, personal needs of our readers by delivering relevant information on relationships, education, careers, retirement, health, humor, money management, nutrition, online resources, self-improvement, travel, and more.

All ideas will be reviewed by the Pittsburgh Better Times editorial team and a staff member will be in contact to discuss our production expectations if we wish to move forward.

Bylined Article Checklist

  1. Submit posts via Google Doc.
  2. Posts should have a minimum of 700 words.
  3. Please note: All links will be converted to no-follow.
  4. Do not include footnotes or endnotes. Cite your sources for quotes, statistics, and external content by using a hyperlink within the text of your article. Please note: Links in the articles are converted to no-follow.
  5. Contributors are welcome to provide any accompanying photos or artwork to complement the article. Color is preferable, but black and white is acceptable. Include a photo (1000 x 700 pixels, 72 dpi) at the top as well as any other images you’d like to include within the body of the article. Images in your article will be removed if there is a copyright violation. Please make sure that the images are free to use.
  6. The article should be information-based and should not mention the name of the author’s company or products directly. Your company may be mentioned in a byline identification that appears at the end of the article.
  7. Bylined articles should be written in the third-person, unless the submission is an opinion piece approved by the editor.
  8. Include a suggested title for the article and the author’s byline.
  9. Add a short bio (100 words or less) of the author, including name, title, position, office location, and company website. You may also submit a digital headshot photo (72 dpi) of the author.
  10. Please include a link to your Gravatar account (if it applies).
