Fun Fall Activities to Do with Your Kids

The season of taking trips to the beach and swimming in the pool is coming to an end. However, there’s no need to worry—fall has plenty of activities that can keep the fun alive. Here are some fun fall activities to do with your kids in the Pittsburgh area.

Visit a Fall Festival

Nothing is better than enjoying the outdoors by visiting a local fall festival. Your child can enjoy navigating a corn maze, bobbing for apples, sack racing, enjoying good food and music, and so much more fun. The Pittsburgh area offers plenty of festivals, such as the Harvest Festival on October 19th and the Monster Pumpkin Festival on October 20th.

Go to a Sporting Event

Fall means that football season is in full swing, and nothing is quite as exciting as visiting Heinz Field. The Pittsburgh Steelers have quite a few home games coming up, but if you can’t catch them in action, the Penguins begin their 2019 season on October 3rd.

Play Sports

There are also plenty of sports you can get your child involved in, too. Whether it’s through the local park district or at your home, involving your kids in sports at a young age is a great thing to do for multiple reasons. Fall marks the start of many sports seasons, with the perfect weather to play in.

Visit a Haunted House

Halloween is also around the corner, which means local haunted houses are starting to open. If you and your child aren’t afraid of some spooky fun, venture into a house full of monsters or go on a haunted hayride. You can also stay at home and enjoy some family-friendly scary movies.

Go to a Parade

Attending a parade is another fun fall activity to do with your kids. Celebrate the upcoming holidays by letting your child enjoy all the floats. Your child can also enjoy live music, games, and treats. Some notable parades in Pittsburgh include Pumpkinfest and the WPXI Holiday Parade.
