What Should Be the Ideal CBD Dosage for Dogs?

Are you unsure about how much CBD you should give to your dog? Most CBDs for dogs are effective in helping treat a wide range of symptoms such as arthritis, hip dysplasia, inflammation, and cancer.

CBD is a powerful compound extracted from the cannabis plant. It is used as an alternative treatment for pets suffering from various medical conditions. There are several factors to be considered before giving your pet the right dose of CBD.

Consult the Vet

Many factors can affect the dosage requirement for your pet, including breed, weight, health condition, etc. Consult your vet before buying or trying out any dosage. Use trial and error to determine the best possible dosage that works for your dog.

Dosages mentioned on product labels are usually not recommended by experts for various reasons, so consult a veterinarian before trying them out!

Continue the Same Dosage Regularly

Administer the same dose at regular intervals daily instead of depending on its effect on your pet because different dogs may have varying reactions towards CBD oil. Observe your dog’s behavior carefully after giving CBD oil to them.

If you notice adverse effects like sleepiness, lethargy, lack of energy, etc., stop using CBD immediately.

Avoid Processed Products

Processed products are often not the best way to give CBD oil to your pet. You may find them in various forms, including edibles, vape oils, etc., which you can try out!

Why Is Oral Dosage Better?

The recommended dosage should be administered twice daily to receive its benefits completely; however, it’s advisable not to exceed more than 200mg at one time since it may cause adverse reactions like lethargy.

  • Administering CBD oil orally with food increases its absorption, so include plenty of fats and oils while preparing the meal for your pet.
  • The exact dosage of CBD should be administered gradually instead of depending on its effect because different dogs may have various reactions towards it accordingly.

Should You Use Treats or Capsules?

Not only do CBD dog treats taste better, but they also come in different flavors and with a fixed dose. This way, you will always know how much CBD you are giving to your dog.

However, there is one drawback in giving treats, as they act slower. The same goes for the capsule. These products are also not as enjoyable for the dog as the treats. However, the benefit of the capsule is that they have a higher fixed dose and are much more reliable in the level of effects they produce.

Some brands provide detailed guidelines for dosage according to the size.

Low doses usually suffice to minimize the pain if you’re also supplementing your dog with CBD oil. If your dog suffers from anxiety or joint pain, you have to increase the dosage of CBDs for the dogs and observe the effects until you know what suits them.

When giving CBD to your dog, always check the dosing instructions at the back of the package. Follow the dosage instructions that come with the product and adjust the dose as needed. It is always better to start at the low end of the dose and gradually increase it once you know how your dog will respond to it.
