What to do with your casino bonus

Casino bonuses are very common today. With the rise in online casinos, they have essentially become a necessity for any site that wants to compete on the market. This means that players will sometimes walk away from sites that don’t have a good number of different bonuses on offer. However, what a lot of players don’t understand is what they should do once they have their casino bonus. We’ve put together some of the best tips to help you use your casino bonus in a sensible way when you play.

Decide if it’s right for you

This is without a doubt the most important thing for you to do. Some online casino sites will have restrictive terms and conditions that make the bonus simply not worth claiming. Imagine if there were wagering requirements of 100 times the bonus and deposit amount. It would mean that a $100 bonus on a $100 deposit would require $20,000 worth of bets before the bonus amount could be withdrawn. While this is possible, it is significantly harder to complete than a site that has a 25 times wagering requirement on just the bonus amount. In that case, your wagering amount would be set at $2,500. As you can see, you would need to wager eight times less with the second example.

It’s not just wagering, either. If a bonus is restricted to just a certain type of game, then it might not be for you. If you enjoy playing blackjack but the bonus can only be used on slots, do you really want it? Conversely, if a bonus doesn’t require a deposit to claim it or it has zero wagering requirements, then no matter what, you should claim it. This is because it’s essentially a free opportunity to add a boost to your bankroll – even if it means playing 25 free spins on a game you don’t enjoy. Just look at it as earning a few extra turns on a game that you do like. This makes it an efficient way to play.

Understand how weightings work

This is a really big one to understand. Basically, different games will have different weightings towards your wagering requirements. So, if slots have 100% and blackjack has 10%, it means that all of your wagers on slots will count towards wagering, but only 10% of your stake on blackjack will.

An example of this would be the $20,000 wagering from earlier on. If you played slots, then you would need to stake $20,000 on spins in order to achieve the wagering. You’d obviously be relying on your earnings from different spins to achieve this, and not on cash out of your own pocket, but everything that you staked, up to the wager limit the casino puts in place, would count towards that amount.

If you were playing blackjack, then this wouldn’t be the case. Of every $10 that you wagered, just $1 would count towards the wagering. So, at $10 per hand, you would need to play 20,000 hands of blackjack in order to achieve the wagering requirement. If you have just seven days to achieve this, then you would realistically need to play about 3,000 hands per day in order to reach the target. Not just that, it’s much harder to achieve, as not all of your stake is counting towards your wagering.

Use your bonus on a game you are comfortable with

This is definitely the best tip you can take on board. If you hate slots and aren’t comfortable playing them, then it would make sense to use your bonus on a different game – even when taking weighting into account. If you’re not good at managing your slot bankroll but are good at managing your blackjack bankroll, it just makes sense to focus on the game you’re good at. Otherwise, you are just making things more difficult for yourself.

It goes further than this, as well. If you use your bonus on a game you don’t like, then you’re not really getting anything out of it. All you are doing is claiming the bonus because you think you should. A bonus should be an opportunity to make it easier for you to create winnings and profit. If you are using it on games you’re not totally comfortable with, then you’re not getting the most out of it. This in turn will make it more likely that you will lose the bonus. If this is the case, you may as well not claim it and just play without it.
