How to Use CBD Oil

CBD is a non-intoxicating chemical compound found in the cannabis plant. CBD oil is a carrier oil that contains CBD and many other active compounds. The similarities between CBD oil vs. hemp oil is the lack of high THC content which has psychoactive properties. CBD oil is used in many forms including tinctures, sprays, creams, salves, and best CBD capsules, among others.

CBD oil does not make you high. It is believed that when absorbed into the body, CBD attaches itself to the endocannabinoid system’s receptors. Endocannabinoids are known for regulating mood, sleep, energy balance, and memory.

How CBD Oil is administered

CBD products are many in the market. You can use CBD oil in many different ways to achieve the desired result. CBD oil is often used in various ways to relieve certain symptoms in the body. Some CBD based products can be mixed in drinks or foods, or taken with a dropper or pipette.

The method of using CBD oil and the dosage used is determined by the purpose of using the CBD product, the part of the body being targeted, and the timeframe recommended to use the product.

Here are some of the methods of using CBD oil:

CBD Oil as Tinctures

CBD oil can be infused into a liquid to make alcohol and oil-based tinctures. Oil-based tinctures are produced through filtration and distillation processes to removed unwanted compounds. Afterward, the CBD is placed in carrier oils such as sunflower seed oil, coconut oil, grape seed oil, hemp seed oil, olive oil, and many other edible oils.

Some of these oils are unflavoured, with a grassy or nutty flavor, which is why oils like peppermint are added to give them desirable flavors.

Alcohol-based tinctures are made with alcohol as the name suggests. They can be intolerable if pure alcohol is used in their production. This is because they burn the membranes in the mouth. To lessen this discomfort, alcohol-based tinctures can be diluted in cranberry, orange, or grapefruit juice.

Tinctures are taken orally or sublingually by placing drops under the tongue. The user will hold the oil in the mouth for 60 seconds then swallow to allow absorption into the bloodstream through mucous membranes. They can also be added to yogurt, soups, and drinks.

Ingested CBD Oils

CBD oils that can be ingested include edible gummies, capsules, and oils. There are plenty of CBD supplements that can be added to the hot sauce, candy, and other food products. Ingested products can be prescribed to suit the objective and lifestyle of the user.

CBD Oil as Capsules or Softgels

CBD capsules like the Freed CBD oil capsules contain essential oils and compounds, with various concentrations of CBD oil. The capsules’ dosages are predetermined and cannot be changed. Because of this, they are not recommended for new users. CBD oils can be used in this case because their dosage can be altered according to the individuals’ progress.

CBD Oils as Edibles

CBD is naturally lipophilic and can be used with various food products like gummies and chocolates. It takes 1 – 3 hours to feel the effects of CBD after consumption. It’s essential that you wait for the CBD to take effect before taking your next edible. Indulging in too many edibles may lead to over-consumption of CBD.

CBD Oils as Lozenges

Lozenges get absorbed by the body quickly. CBD is used alongside other herbs and flavors that help to soothe the throat. They come in different sugar-free versions and flavors.

Topical CBD

Topical CBD products include lotions, salves, oils, and balms. Topical CBD is applied through the skin. The endocannabinoid receptors on the skin allow CBD to work on relieving inflammation, sore joints, discomfort, rashes, muscle soreness, and other skin conditions.

CBD for Inhalation

CBD can be used for inhalation in vaping and smoking with the use of Freed CBD cartridges. For centuries cannabis has been smoked or inhaled for medicinal or recreational purposes. The inhalation of CBD products makes them work fast and effectively in the body. CBD products do not make you high when inhaled.

CBD Oil is believed to treat ailments and chronic medical conditions, including anxiety, acne, depression, epilepsy, glaucoma, chronic pain, insomnia, Parkinson’s disease, muscle spasms, and many other conditions. It can also reduce pain and inflammation, improve heart health, reduce risks of certain cancers, fight oxidative stress, aid in weight loss, and promote sleep.

There is no dosage regulation by FDA on CBD products. Medical professionals recommend CBD oil doses according to individual factors such as the type of health problem, concentration of CBD in the product and body weight, among others.
