Hear What ENT Doctors Have to Say about Rhinoplasty in Singapore

Not everyone is blessed with a pronounced and perfect looking nose. That aside, some people have nose defects since birth. Rhinoplasty, which is medically the surgery for nasal structure correction and other allied issues, can give people the nose shape they always dreamt of.

However, since it’s a surgery, a patient needs to maintain proper care both before and after the surgery. Hence, if you want to get a Rhinoplasty done, you need to consider these five essential aspects:

1. You need to take off from work

Don’t think of joining work at the earliest after the surgery. Ace surgeons and doctors suggest it is essential for patients to take about ten days off from work. It is necessary for your body to understand and absorb that you’ve undergone surgery and get back to normal functioning mode at the earliest. When you take off for about ten days, you allow the healing process to get completed fully. Once your body heals totally, you can attend your work.

2. There will be swelling

After your surgery, expect the swelling and bruises to stay in the first week. Also, some people might notice that the area close to their eyes can become slightly dark after a few days. The swelling will take time to complete. You can plan your surgery in such a time where you can get an extended leave. And by that time both your bruising and swelling can get healed.

3. You can see the final result entirely after a year

Don’t expect dramatic results instantly. It will take close to a year for the surgery outcome to get pronounced. Sometimes, patients are slightly surprised as they witness their noses healing even after a month of the surgery. Sometimes, there might be temporary asymmetry issues. But you need to wait for at least a year to get to see the final outcome.

4. Don’t exercise for one month

Rhinoplasty does demand some life changes until you heal. And one of them is to stop exercising for a month. When you have increased heart rate, it can lead to extra swelling, and that might negatively affect the surgery outcome. When you are doing cardio, it is normal for the heart rate to cross 100. That will lead the nose to swell and even bleed at times.

5. Get prepared to witness the surgery symptoms

When you are aware of the surgery symptoms, you are not scared anymore when it takes place in real time. It might cause you pain and discomfort, but you know that these symptoms will pass away with time. Severe pain can be expected but is not very common. The primary symptoms include swelling, a feeling of stuffiness, and surgery bruises. You can lessen the impact of these symptoms by taking in pain relievers prescribed by the doctors. Patients at times opt-in for the OTC (Over the counter) pain relievers like acetaminophen and ibuprofen.

Once the surgery is over, you need to visit your doctor after a week has passed! During this visit, the doctor will remove the nasal splint. You might experience some pain, but it is temporary. There are many other considerations that you need to make. However, when you are aware of the five factors mentioned above, you can prepare for your surgery in a better way.
